According to interior designer Michael Mariotti, quality of life and happiness go hand-in-hand with a well-designed home. “If you are comfortable in your environment, then you will be better equipped to face life’s challenges,” he strongly believes. While Mariotti’s clients have different criteria for their houses, the interior designer’s common thread is his ability to make each home a reflection of the client’s best qualities. His philosophy and approach creates homes that are smart, inspiring, and ultimately functional.
Assisted by a staff of three, Mariotti is personally responsible for each project’s design vision. After meeting with clients to understand their needs and preferences, he develops the interior, and often exterior, concepts. He applies his “classic style with a modern twist” to balance functionality and timelessness. His own recently-constructed home, which he designed reminiscent of a French chateau, is often complimented by people who say it looks as if it has always been there.
As concerns for the environment have increased, so has Mariotti’s inclusion of eco-sensitive products and finishes with naturally aesthetic qualities. Bamboo and cork flooring, natural textiles, and recycled tile have been incorporated into recent projects. Energy-efficient LED lighting is also regularly used in conjunction with ample natural light.
